Studio Fontana is a Czech production music distributor founded in 1992 by Zdeněk Nedvěd.
In 1995, the company started its own music library with inital 10 CDs. However, as the low number of CDs did not meet sufficient market demand, the company started looking for foreign partners. Shortly after, Fontana began distiributing foreign music libraries, starting with German Sonoton library.[1]
In 1998, Fontana opened its Slovak subsidary called Studio Fontana Slovakia. In the same year, the company started the breakthrough partnership with Polish Sound-Pol library.[2]
Currently, Fontana operates two production music units - Fontana Music Library and Sprint Music Library.
The ever-increasing phenomenon of libraries shifting from physical to digital releases in late 2010's allowed Studio Fontana to expand into more countries in online-only form. In early 2018, the company started directly operating in Hungary, followed by Croatia and Slovenia in Spring 2020. Beginning with early 2021, Studio Fontana expanded into Germany through its Czech Republic-based subsidary Rightbox s.r.o. Through the same subsidary, it started operating in Scandinavia in March 2022. In April 2023, the company opened its British branch called FreshTracks Music UK, under the leadership of John Clifford.[3]
Aside from music publishing activities, the company also produces Czech dubs of various audiovisual productions.
