Production Music Wiki

Cezame is a French production music library founded in 1975 by Frédéric Leibovitz and Jean-Michel Gallois-Montbrun. It originally started as a folk label. In 1982, the company set-up RCA Media joint-venture with RCA. After few years of waiting for financial results, RCA sold shares back to Leibovitz and Gallois-Montburn, who decided to rename the project as Koka Media.

In 1992, Cezame started releasing its own library music CD albums under its name, but distributed as a Koka Media sub-label.

In 1996, a 50% stake in Koka has been acquired by BMG Music, with the remaining shares being kept by Leibovitz. After Universal Publishing Production Music acquired the remaining shares in Koka Media in 2007 from Leibovitz, he later took rights to the Cezame label and set-up Cezame Music Agency. UPPM continued to distribute the label worldwide (including through Killer Tracks in North America) until December 2010, when Cezame started handling distribution of its labels through its own branches or third-party distributors.
